Building cathedrals! Raising Saints!
“Do small things with great love.”
As a mother to three small little ones it’s often easy for me to get caught up in the mundane every day tasks and forget the amazing gift it is. From time to time I fully realize that picking up the messy house again, unloading the dishwasher again, washing and folding the clothes again, folding the cloth diapers again, that it ALL has so much merit if I offer my efforts to God! He can take the small seemingly insignificant offerings and bestow graces and blessings upon myself and my family if I do those tasks with love and true sacrifice!
When I “do” with love and sacrifice I can offer so much more for my family. I can teach them that every task in life can bring us closer to Him as we serve others with Christlikeness. Every task will bring us closer to becoming saints. Most importantly it will bring us to our ultimate goal which is eternal union with God in Heaven!
Our world tells us that motherhood and being a home maker isn’t good enough or significant. I’d like to prove that wrong! It is the vocation of a wife and mother to cooperate in the creation of life, to bring forth the life of one’s children and raise them up in the faith. Building cathedrals, raisings saints is no small task.
One of my favorite quotes that I have right by my kitchen sink that I can look at when I wash the dishes that my family has used throughout the day is…
“Children are not a distraction from more important work. They are the most important work.” C.S. Lewis
They are the most important! Our children are the most important. As parents we pour into our children daily whether that be keeping up with the tasks in the home to give them nourishment for their body, or shaping their minds or guiding their heart and soul to Christ.
Do small things with great love!
Just remember that oftentimes the “small things” are actually the big things when we have done it with the love and heart that mirror’s Christ!
