Happy Friday! I don’t know about everyone else, but these past few weeks have been really busy at my house! Preschool started last week, and we are not used to coming and going so much. Our poor dog has been really confused from our new schedule too! With time though, our new routine will get set and will start to feel like normal.
This week has been crazy for us- we’ve had 3 doctor appointments for 3 different people on top of preschool and gym outings. I feel like I’m getting my workout in for the day for the amount of times I am leaving the house carrying a heavy car seat and managing to get 2 other toddlers safely to our destination!
With all the new changes, everyone in our house has been a little tired and stressed- kids included! My kids especially thrive on routine and when it changes, they notice and tend to act out. Despite all the stressful moments this week though, there have been so many sweet ones that always make my heart melt!
I have mentioned before how innocent children are, and experiencing these sweet moments with my kids reminds me of that every day. Yesterday Rebecca had a follow-up doctor appointment to check her ears. She has had two ear tube surgeries, and this appointment was her 6 month follow-up from the most recent one. Everything looked good, but unfortunately she needed to have her left ear cleaned out. Needless to say, she was not happy. However, when it was time to leave and say goodbye to the doctor and nurses, she says, “bye bye, I love you!”. Even after screaming in pain she still says “I love you” to the doctor! My heart was definitely not the only one that melted in that office. She preceded to say “bye bye, I love you” to a bus that was leaving in the parking lot, and then said “goodnight, I love you Jesus!” to our crucifix at bedtime last night.
Maybe she was just extremely happy to leave the doctors office, but she still said “I love you” to a person that from her perspective, caused her fear and pain just moments before. Jesus calls us to be like children in their innocence, and after observing my daughter, I understand why. Children love unconditionally, and it is their innocence that makes their hearts so pure. We are called to see Christ in everyone, our neighbors, and those that hurt us. If we open our hearts up just like children do, we’ll find ourselves growing closer to God.
I hope everyone has a safe and fun-filled weekend!
