Saints Help Us With Our Daily Tasks

Saints enjoy being asked for help for daily tasks! Whether it is surviving the challenges of motherhood with several young kids, cantering at mass, applying for scholarships, naming our kids or even our business! I hope you enjoy reading these 5 saint stories on ways the different saints help when they are called upon.

St. Cecilia

My favorite friendship at the moment is with St. Cecilia. I am a cantor for weekend masses, and through the example of St. Therese and so many other amazing saints of humility, I always aim to give God all the glory when praised for the gifts He Himself has bestowed on me. That being said, during mass while I am singing, I pray for the intercession of St. Cecilia, that all of my singing will be for the glory of God and not for personal praise or positive attention. Whenever I invoke her intercession, there is a felt sense of serenity that takes over me when singing and I know instantly that God is using me as His instrument and that I myself am nothing. I have loved her friendship in this task!- Rachel Nott

St. Jude

For my Cradle Catholics: Did you ever have a saint you relied on growing up? Or a Saint who you felt close to?

I have always had a love for St. Jude. The church has recognized him as the saint for despair and desperate cases.

Growing up I had a really rough childhood. One I don’t speak of often. Many times the situations going on in my life caused me to feel like I needed a desperate intercession to fix situations and circumstances. St. Jude never failed me. I always relied on him to intercede for me. I would pray novenas for my suffering to be lifted. For the situations in my home to change.

One special memory I have is applying for scholarships. I had graduated at 16 and did not think of the implications it would cause for scholarships. My dad had already told me he would not provide financial support of any kind nor would he give me his financial information. So I was left with no way to go to College as I was not of age to work a part-time job. My search for scholarships was coming to a halt as I was not a Senior, but I was considered a graduate. I remember praying a novena for help. I needed St. Jude to intercede for me so that I could find a scholarship (which I did). Then I prayed another novena that I would get a scholarship. Thanks be to GOD I did and was able to attend the first year of community college. I was provided a full scholarship and it even came with a grant for books! It allowed me to continue my education and helped me become of age so that I could start working and pay my way through school (which I did). It was all because of the intercession of St. Jude.

Mother Teresa

The good you do today may be forgotten tomorrow. Do good anyway.

Mother Teresa

“Even though she’s not one of my patron saints or someone that even I remember to ask for her intercession often, Mother Teresa is my go-to for motherhood. Every time I am frustrated or fall into self pity or think “Why me? Why am I doing this?” over and over again, or all those negative thoughts, she has a really long quote about doing things anyway, so I just say the three words “do it anyway” and that really helps me. – Lisa Gormley

Naming kids after saints

My children are all named after saints; Gabrielle Jude, Dominic Savio, Sebastian Xavier and Lucy Marie. These saints have become our family patrons and friends. We lost Gabrielle 12 weeks into pregnancy so her name was chosen b/c of the connection to Our Lady’s “yes.” The other 3 have stuffies and TinySaint charms to constantly remind them of their heavenly friends. – Betsy Scafidi
